Portrait of a Budgerigar - exhibited 2010

There really isn’t a more Australian bird than the budgie. The budgerigar’s natural habitat for the past five million years has been Australia and its natural colours are green and gold with some black on the wings, back and the nape of the neck. All the other colours are from years of selective breeding. They are a beautiful little parrot which is affectionate to its flockmates and its young.
